Little Red Wagon #186

Well, I am back from a wonderful holiday and I was happy to pull out my scrappy supplies yesterday to make up a card for this week's Little Red Wagon challenge!  Janice has challenged us to make a 'punny' card.

I decided to use a stamp that has been in my wagon for a long time to create this cool card.

I pulled out my Copics (yay!) and had fun colouring it up!

I even found some ice cream/popsicle paper to use as my background :)

So I hope you decide to play along with us this week.  Just pop on over to Little Red Wagon and link up your 'punny' card!  We would love to see what you create ~

Inspiration Elevator - May 2013

Welcome to our May Inspiration Elevator challenge.  Each month our group is challenged to take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow.

We are happy to announce that Michelle Hernandez is now a permanent member of our Inspiration Elevator Design Team!  We are also happy to have Denise Morrison as a Guest Designer this month!  Welcome to both of you!!

This month we have the very talented Laura Whitaker issuing a challenge for us.  Here is Laura's challenge:

"As we welcome spring, scrap something to do with a new beginning, it could be an opportunity, a relationship, or even the world's reawakening after it's long winter's nap. Don't forget to journal and describe why you have chosen your topic."

What a great challenge for this spring-time season!  I decided to scrap a photo of my niece's baby that was taken just a few days after he was born.  His birth was such an important and life-changing new beginning for my niece, Danielle.  She encountered many obstacles leading up to his birth and yet, sweet Nolan is the biggest blessing in her life!

I kept the layout clean and fresh - just like a newborn!

One fun element that I added were the clouds that I cut with my Silhouette!  I cut them out of the paper and added pen stitching with my Silhouette!  Very cool!  Then I added pattern paper behind each cloud for a fun look.

I also used the Silhouette print feature to add Nolan's birth information to my background paper.

I decided to work with different strips of paper to create the base for my photo.  I also misted a couple of paper doilies to coordinate them with the colours of the papers.

My journaling was placed on a hidden tag and it reads:  New beginnings are not always easy... but a Mother's love conquers all!

Thanks so much for looking at my design for this month's challenge :)   Be sure to stop by each of the blogs of our other designers.  I am sure you will be amazed at their talent.

Denise Morrison (Guest Designer)

Happy scrapping ~

Little Red Wagon #184

Happy Wednesday!  Today's challenge at Little Red Wagon was my pick, but because I am sitting on a beach in the Caribbean, my bff Carolyn, is hosting the challenge for me! What a good friend :)

This week's challenge is to use a doily!  I love doilies - such pretty little things :)

I used a paper doily on my card, along with a die-cut ticket and a few little baubles I had in my wagon.

I played with some layering and I like how it turned out.  I hope you join in the doily fun this week and I will be sure to check out your projects when I return!

Two Scrapbook Friends Progressive Blog Hop

Happy National Scrapbook Day and welcome to the Two Scrapbook Friends Progressive Blog Hop!

If you did not arrive from the Two Scrapbook Friends Blog, then you should begin there.  All the details about this fun Blog Hop are posted there for your reference :)

Here is a list of all the Blogs you will be visiting in order:

Joanne (you are here!)

A progressive blog hop is a totally new experience in blog hopping for me!  It sort of reminds me of the Mother Goose story, "This is the House That Jack Built."  (*giggle * giggle*)

I have the privilege of being the first stop on this fun journey... so here goes!  I began with a sketch that I designed and that is what I based my layout on.

I kept my design close to the sketch.  I didn't add any extras because each designer along the hop will be adding something to the design.

I worked with some Basic Grey and Simple Stories papers and stickers, along with an awesome photo of my friend's little boy!

You will have to wait to see my finished layout which won't be published until Monday, May 6th.  This will give you an opportunity to finish the hop and to see the interpretation of the sketch by each of our designers and the progression of their pages.

So, next up is Shelby!  She has started with the same sketch and has added one additional element to her design!  I can't wait to see what she has done!

Be sure to leave a comment on each blog along the way, including the Two Scrapbook Friends blog, and you will have a chance to win a great prize!  Have fun and I will see you back here on Monday when I unveil my finished layout :)

National Scrapbook Day Challenge at Two Scrapbook Friends

In honor of National Scrapbook Day, which is officially tomorrow, May 4th, the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum has issued some fun challenges to get your scrapbooking mojo going!

The challenge that I issued is to use some wonderful washi tape on a project!  I LOVE washi tape!  All the bright, fun colours and all the easy and awesome things that you can do with it {sigh}.

For some inspiration, I decided to create a simple card.

I cut out a cake plate on my Silhouette Cameo and then I simply layered some washi tape to create the cake.

For a finishing touch, I added a sweet little bow with a gemstone.

Be sure to head over to the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum and join in the fun!  There are lots of great challenges and it is a perfect way to celebrate this amazing hobby of scrapbooking!

Little Red Wagon #182

I can't believe it is Wednesday already!  Time sure flies when you are having fun!!

Today's challenge at Little Red Wagon is brought to us by the ever-talented Jayne.  She wants us to use a lollipop stick or toothpick on our project.  Hmmm... this challenge took a bit of thought on my part, but I think I am happy with my design.

I had some left-over papers from a layout that I created using Jillibean papers so I put them to use on this card.

I have to admit that the card is pretty much a scraplift of one I saw on the Jillibean blog, so I really can't take credit for the basic design.  BUT, I did create my own embellishments using toothpicks, so that counts right?  Plus I used a sticker sentiment and added twine, so I really did make the card my own :)

Now be sure to pop on over to the Little Red Wagon blog and see what the other Girlfriends created using sticks.  You are sure to be inspired!
