Much to our delight, there was a local farmers' market just a couple of blocks away from where my sisters and I were staying on our weekend away. So, not so bright and early (lol), we made our way over the market and we were quite surprised at how well attended it was! There were easily close to 100 different vendors and people from all over came to purchase farm fresh produce and local crafts.
There were interesting crafts like these birdhouses attached to pitch forks and these hand-made wooden roses...
lots of home-made yumminess...
fresh cut flowers and garden perennials...
and beautiful home-decor items and hand-made clothing.
Our only regret was that since our fridge space was very limited, we couldn't buy as much as we would have liked to. But we did pick up some fresh fruit and veggies that we took to the beach with us for our lunch. Plus, an absolutely lovely flower vendor gave us a bouquet of fresh cut wildflowers in a canning jar to put in our hotel room - for free! Everyone was friendly and happy and interested in who we were and where we were from.
Yes, happiness truly is the farmers' market on a bright, sunny Saturday morning!
