Sisters Weekend

Last weekend at this time, I was enjoying the last day of a wonderful weekend with my two sisters. In the past we have tried to get together for a weekend away once a year, but it had been 3 years since our last sisters weekend. This year we decided it was time to get away, reconnect, relax and have some fun!

We decided to stay in a sweet little resort on Lake Huron in the thumb area of Michigan. It was a fabulous little place that was just perfect for us.

When we weren't out shopping or exploring, we enjoyed the delightful atmosphere of the courtyard.

Each night we claimed the swing (perfect for the three of us!) that was well used, but oh so comfy, and we talked and laughed and would eventually swing in silence as the beautiful night air and the chirping of the crickets will lull us into a silent place of peace.

Each day held a new adventure as we explored the little towns nearby.

The stores and restaurants...

the marinas where we would each pick out 'our' boat...

the quaint cottages...

and the piers where we could watch the most stunning sunsets...

It was a wonderful, perfect weekend!

Dianne and Mary, my dear, sweet, irreplaceable sisters, I hope and pray that we will have many more sisters weekends in the future.

Little Red Wagon #41

Happy Wednesday!  It is time for another Little Red Wagon challenge and it was my turn to post the challenge this week.

I thought that since we are in the middle of summer, it would be fun to create something in a summer theme.

I found this delicious digi watermelon image and decided to use it on a card.  I colored it with my Copic markers and added a bit of Glossy Accents to the seeds.

Then I paired it with some green gingham paper I had in my wagon, added a bit of ribbon and a simple sentiment and now I have a fun summer themed card to give away!

Little Red Wagon #40

Happy Wednesday! Wow - it is the Little Red Wagon's 40th challenge already!  I hope you have enjoyed our fun little blog and the challenges we have posted:)

This week, Dee has challenged us to use circles.

I found a circle stamp that I have only used a couple of times, so that was the basis for the circle feature on my card.  Then I used polka-dot paper (circles! - right?), a sweet butterfly punch that I borrowed from my bff, and some tulle for my bow!

Summer Cuties

It has been a while since a new manufacturer of scrapbooking papers has really grabbed my attention, but the new Echo Park is a true winner!  The bright colors and the whimsical feel make you want to scrapbook with it and that is what I used on this recent layout, Summer Cuties.

 
The picture is an older one (you know - pre-digital!) that has always been one of my favorites.  It is from a summer when we spent time at my sister-in-law's family's summer home on the ocean in New Jersey.  My sweet little nieces let me paint their toes with flower designs and then I took this photo.  It was later in the day and so the picture is a bit shadowed, but I still love it!

I added some zipper flowers (thanks to Dee's inspiration)

and a cloud made from tulle! The journaling says:  New Jersey beach house - Elizabeth and Danielle... freshly painted toes and sweet summer smiles!

Little Red Wagon #39

I am finally getting around to posting my Little Red Wagon project for this week.  Rosanne challenged us to go with a Christmas in July theme.  I decided to create a little card.

I found some left-over papers in my wagon and colored this adorable Stamping Bella image with my Copics.  It is hard to think of Christmas when it is warm and sunny outside and all I want to do is be on the beach, but I did my best!

The Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich!

When we were at our friend's cottage a couple of weeks ago, she treated us to a wonderful lunch that included the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had!  Pat's daughter, Julie, loves to cook and she got this recipe from watching Oprah who did a search for the best grilled cheese sandwich in America.  This was the winner.

Now Julie tweaked it just a bit from the original recipe and it was d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s!

You have to start with a light rye bread.  Butter one side and place in pan, butter side down, over medium-low heat.  Put Havarti cheese, thick tomato slices and fresh basil on top.

 
 Then for the best part - you drizzle honey over the sandwich!

Add a buttered slice of bread to the top and continue to grill until both sides are a golden brown and the cheese has melted.

The flavors were mouth-watering and the sandwich was seriously the best! You have to give this sandwich a try - I guarantee you will love it:)

Happy Wednesday to you! Regan posted a really fun challenge this week. We were supposed to to look back on all the DT creations and pick one to CASE...

I browsed back through all 37 of our previous posts and decided to copy one of Dee's cards. I just loved this ruffled ribbon technique that she did!

This is my version of her card.

I even added a zipper flower that I saw on her blog!
