Me: Why do the birds sing in the morning?
Hubby: To piss people off!
Me (trying not to laugh hysterically!): No seriously, are they greeting each other?
Hubby: It is probably a territorial or mating thing.
Me (thinking that is such a typical ‘man’ response): I seriously don’t get it! It is like one big party and they are all talking at once!
Hubby: I just don’t understand why they have to do it before the sun even rises!
Me: Maybe they feel responsible for making the sun rise. Maybe they think they are cheering it on!
Hubby groans…
So what is the answer? Are they just greeting the dawn? Are they simply happy to be alive? Or is there some other more complex reason for the loud but joyful singing of birds in the early morning? Is it noise or is it music?
Does it really matter? You guys need ear plugs. I slept with my window open last night and I didn't hear anything. It sounds like maybe you 2 feel the need to welcome morning.......silly friends!
ReplyDeleteHere's to a good night's sleep tonight. LOL!
funny story, maybe you might wanna move the bird feeder to the back of the yard!!
ReplyDeleteLOL I agree with your hubby, birds are great to look at but the noise getts a liitle much!!
ReplyDeleteWe had GEESE on our roof honking back and forth!!
I absolutely think of it as music! I love to hear the birds singing no matter the hour and regardless of whether they wake me up, and with all our trees, we certainly have huges families in our backyard. Being the night owl that I am, I went to bed very late the other night and there were birds singing at about 4:00 a.m. ... putting their newborn babies to sleep I'm sure :) And Joanne, look at the quality time you could enjoy with hubby when the birds sing you awake in the morning ;)

LOL! I think it's a conspiracy against parents to wake up the kids!
ReplyDeleteAnother tag for you, Joanne, if you have time to play! See my blog for the details!
Happy scrapping this week! I planned to come and crop in the store this morning but William started vomiting again just as we were heading out the door to school.
So if I don't see you at all this week, {{{HUGS}}}!
The birds used to really annoy me when they woke me 5 am! Then one day I decided to think of it as a nice, cheerful sound.........now they don't wake me any more! LOL
ReplyDeleteFYI - I love, love, love birds. Truly, I have a real thing for them! And after a long winter, I really look forward to hearing them again. BUT - you really can't even imagine how loud their morning songs are! Someday, I will invite all of you over to experience it for yourselves!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you think. They are cheering on the sun.
ReplyDeleteI think it is peaceful to wake to and then fall asleep to. What I don't like is when animals in my back yard are making mating sounds. Last night I thought these 2 squirrels were screaming!!!
That is too funny Brenda! Ask Carolyn sometime about the ducks mating in her backyard!!
ReplyDeletei think the birds are greeting the day and letting other birds know that this is their territory, you stay away...im still here....tweet tweet...lol....i love listening to the birds in the morning, but on days when i want to sleep in seems to be the day they are the loudest, lol
